Send your invoices to DHL Express USA over DBNA with DocStudio
DocStudio is a DBNA certified access point. To invoice DHL via DBNA, you don't have to become an access point (service provider) yourself. You just need to use one of DBNA's certified access points.
Built for carriers, owner-operators and small vendors. No ERP or IT team needed.
What DHL's letter is asking you to do
If you received "No invoicing through Tradeshift" from DHL Express (USA) Inc., this is what it means in plain terms.
DHL Express (USA) Inc. will no longer support Tradeshift connection as of 19.10.2026.
Invoices sent through DHL's Tradeshift connection stop reaching DHL on October 19, 2026. If you pay for Tradeshift yourself, you have to check with Tradeshift how they'll deliver to DHL.
Strongly encourages suppliers to submit invoices via DBNA.
DBNA is DHL's preferred channel in the US. Basware is the second option. Email PDFs aren't on the list.
Reach out to your DBNA/Peppol service provider.
A "service provider" is a DBNA certified access point, such as DocStudio. You don't have to become one yourself. You use one to send your invoices.
Invoices should include either a Purchase Order or a Cost Center reference.
Invoices without the right DHL references can be held up. The table below shows what goes where.
DBNA and access points, explained
It works like phone carriers: you sign up with one provider, and you can reach anyone on any other provider.
What is DBNA?
DBNA (Digital Business Networks Alliance) is the network businesses in the United States use to exchange e-invoices and other business documents in a standard electronic format. Companies don't connect to each other directly. Each one connects through an access point, and the access points exchange documents under DBNA's shared rules.
What is an access point?
An access point is a service provider that DBNA has certified to send and receive documents on the network for its customers. DHL's letter calls it your "DBNA/Peppol service provider". DocStudio is a DBNA certified access point.
You don't have to become an access point
Becoming an access point means getting certified by DBNA and running the network connections. That's work for service providers, not for suppliers who simply need to invoice DHL.
To send invoices to DHL via DBNA, you just need to use one of DBNA's certified access points. That's what DHL's letter means by "your DBNA/Peppol service provider".
DBNA vs Peppol
DHL's letter mentions both. They are separate networks built on the same design: DBNA serves the US, and Peppol is used mainly in Europe and Asia. To invoice DHL Express (USA) Inc., you use DBNA.
Why not Basware?
DHL accepts Basware too, so if you already use it, keep using it. If you're starting from scratch, a DBNA access point is DHL's first choice and also reaches other US buyers on the network.

What is DBNA?
DBNA (Digital Business Networks Alliance) is the network businesses in the United States use to exchange e-invoices and other business documents in a standard electronic format. Each company connects through a certified access point, and the access points exchange documents under DBNA's shared rules.
What is a DBNA access point?
An access point is a service provider that DBNA has certified to send and receive documents on the network for its customers. DHL's letter calls it your "DBNA/Peppol service provider". DocStudio is a DBNA certified access point.
Do I need to become a DBNA access point to invoice DHL?
No. To send invoices to DHL via DBNA you don't have to become an access point (service provider) yourself. You just need to use one of DBNA's certified access points, such as DocStudio, which delivers your invoices to DHL for you.
When does DHL Express USA stop accepting Tradeshift invoices?
DHL's letter to suppliers says DHL Express (USA) Inc. stops supporting the Tradeshift connection on October 19, 2026. If you pay for Tradeshift yourself, DHL says you may keep using it, but you'll need to confirm with Tradeshift how they'll deliver to DHL.
Is DBNA the same as Peppol?
No. They are separate networks built on the same four-corner design. DBNA (Digital Business Networks Alliance) is the US network, and Peppol is used mainly in Europe and Asia. DHL's letter mentions both because DHL uses Peppol outside the US.
What is DHL Express USA's DBNA ID?
DHL lists the entity as DHL Express (USA) Inc., tax ID 94-3380424. When you add DHL as a customer, DocStudio connects you to DHL's DBNA address, so you don't have to look it up or type it in.
What references does a DHL invoice need?
Either a DHL purchase order number (300 followed by 7 digits) with PO line numbers, or a 10-digit cost center at the invoice header. Add GL codes at line level when DHL provides them.
I don't have accounting software. Can I still do this?
Yes. You can type invoices into DocStudio's web form. There's nothing to install and no integration to build.
Can I keep emailing PDF invoices too?
No. DHL asks suppliers not to send the same invoice through DBNA and to the old email addresses, because duplicates slow down payment.
How much does it cost?
$9 per user seat per month, which covers up to 50 documents a month. Sending more? See all plans and volumes.
